Monroe/Augustine convertible is awesome!
Bought this as a replacement for my normal full sized mattress to make space in my small apartment. Ive had it for about a week now. It is really comfortable so far. Easy to use. I lugged it down my stairs and assembled it on my own though I would recommend getting help because it is very heavy. This is the same sofa as the Serta Augustine(i received the Augustine model, not Monroe)...pretty sure mattress companies change the model names every year even if they're the same product. Other reviewers mentioned how firm it is. It is firm but still super comfy. Sturdy. I just ordered a tempurpedic topper to make it even more comfortable. Arrived over two weeks sooner than expected. Very satisfied. Thank you Walmart and Serta!Mitchel
Love love love!!
Great quality. Exactly what I was looking for. Its worth the money 100%. Its a very tricky because the sofa looks small but once you open it all the way to sleep on its huge. Which I was impressed by. Its is a complete bed. I like how it looks small but once you open it , its like magic.Yahindy
Sturdy and firm, so may need a topper for comfort
Shopping experience was good. Price was great. Shipping was fast. Paid for the extra service to have the sofa brought upstairs and unboxed, and that went pretty well, but even though our stairs are very wide with large landings they got some pretty deep scuffs on the bannisters (the box is huge and an odd size), so keep this in mind if you want to move this item through tight quarters. I don't think they could have done much better. The box really just is a very odd shape for a couch
The sofa looks better than some of the other images I saw. The piping is all straight and clean. All the cushions and armrests are perfectly squared. The sofa is a tiny bit more dark and cool than shows in the online images, though what you see on your monitor will vary according to your monitor and settings. Saw folks complain these were blue and they are not blue. May have more blue than brown in the grey but it is definitely a grey with some blue tones to it, not a blue-grey. I would say Slate or Steel Grey. For reference my picture shows our light warm grey walls, light neutral to cool grey carpet, medium warm grey rug, and smoky robin's egg blue sheers. Hope this helps!
The sofa looks well-made but it also feels well made. The fabric is decent (it's not looking like super durable fabric, but it wasn't priced for that fabric, and it's nice and soft to the touch). What is very impressive is the firmness of everything. It all feels very sturdy. All the mechanisms work smoothly. The back reclines beautifully. The trundle rolls out with ease. The trundle is pulled up or down via two fabric loops with ease. I am a bit wimpy right now after surgery, cancer treatment, and lingering major health issues that cropped up due to those two things and even I (and my 74yo mother) were able to very, very easily use all the mechanisms on this sofa bed.
As for the comfort - it's firm. Very firm. It's not bad if you are okay with firm. I bought a nice 3" down alternative topper that felt like a cloud on my current full mattress but it is insufficient for this sofa bed for side sleeping with my bad hips. I am getting a memory foam topper instead and recommend if you have bad joints and/or are a side sleeper you get such a topper as well. Keep in mind that since this sofa must be pretty far from the wall, and the back has a gap between the seat and the back - a little nook - you will have a good place to keep a rolled up mattress topper and/or your sleep pillows.
Despite the firmness requiring additional padding for my special needs, this is appears to be a great sofa bed that will work wonderfully for me. And it was a great price, even considering the cost of a premium topper (which to be honest I have gotten them for all but my Tempurpedic brand bed anyway). This sofa will help make my small space more functional, leaving a large 7x9 space in the middle of the bedroom for yoga and meditation when I pop it into sofa mode. We may get another for the office. Very pleased!Anna
